Stardew Valley multiplayer is coming to Switch quite soon, while developer ConcernedApe parts ways with publisher

Stardew Valley publisher Chucklefish Games has confirmed that the game’s multiplayer for Nintendo Switch is officially in submission, meaning the huge new gameplay mode will be coming quite soon to Switch users. Chucklefish announced the news this weekend after developer Eric Barone revealed he would be going it alone without the publisher.

This weekend, ConcernedApe, or Eric Barone, the creator of Stardew Valley, revealed that he would be parting ways with Chucklefish as of December 14. Barone will be handling publishing and development for the PC, Xbox One, PS4, and PS Vita versions of the game, while Chucklefish will continue to handle the Nintendo Switch and Mobile versions.

It seems the split was an amicable one, but Barone shared that he was ready to strike out on his own again after Stardew’s initial success. Chucklefish wished him well in a note published on Stardew Valley’s official website:

"We are proud to be part of the Stardew Valley story and wish ConcernedApe every success with his new self-publishing venture. We will carry on working closely together and are particularly excited to be continuing to publish the versions of Stardew Valley for Nintendo Switch and Mobile. . .”

With Switch multiplayer just about ready to go, fans can also expect the Android version of Stardew Valley sometime in the near future as well.
