Sci-fi MMO Blackstar beaming down to iPhone, iPad, and Android handsets
Spacetime Studios turns unreleased PC game into mobile MMO
Spacetime Studios, the developer behind fantasy massively multiplayer online role-playing game Pocket Legends, has revealed their next project, Blackstar.
The game, which opts for a futuristic space setting with robots, cyborgs, and an advanced alien race known as the Scorn, is also massively multiplayer online.
Conflict among these factions will be at the heart of the game, which promises online play across iPhone, iPod touch, iPad, and select Android devices. Edge, wi-fi, 3G, and 4G connections will be supported.
Real-time chat, a friends list, item sharing and an assortment of other social features are promised.
When it comes to gameplay, customisation is the chief selling point with three character classes each offering a slate of unique abilities and appearance that can be fully personalised.
As for combat, it's unclear if Blackstar will sport an active real-time system or simply carry over the no-fuss tap-to-attack system of Pocket Legends. Criticism over the latter's rudimentary combat system could spur a new approach.Blackstar will be available for iPhone, iPod touch, iPad, and select Android devices in the second quarter of 2011 (late spring/early summer); pricing has yet to be announced.
