It’s been rumoured for quite some time now that developer Supercell, who has created such hits as Clash of Clans and Brawl Stars, has been working quietly on a game titled Squad Busters. Now, per a tweet posted to their official account, we know what this new game is. Based on the clip posted in this Tweet, the game appears to be a 3v3 or 5v5 arena title, with gameplay adjacent to something like Brawl Stars itself.

Squad Busters appears to be somewhat of Supercell’s answer to something like Smash Brothers, as it hopes to unite all of their game’s characters in one arena setting to do combat while utilising different spells and over 125 separate characters. If you’ve kept up with their releases, you’re going to see a lot of different bits of fan service and recognise plenty of the inclusions within the game.

This is all seeable just within this 30-second gameplay snippet, but the deeper mechanics are tough to call out right now. It’s a relatively safe bet that each of these characters will play in their own unique ways, and with the combination of castable spells ranging from heals to AoE damage, I’m positive there’ll be a ton of different combos to mix and match to find your favourite playstyle.

Because this is a Supercell game, I’m also sure we’ll see lots of different cosmetic skins and unlockables to chase after, as well as a ranked system, clans, chests, and the other inclusions that Supercell likes to toss in there too.

All-in-all, this one looks to be a game focused on celebrating Supercell’s massive legacy, so if you’re a fan of arena-based and team fighters, you’ll likely love Squad Busters. Currently, there’s no release date to speak of, but a closed beta test for Canadian Android gamers has been confirmed to run from February 6th to February 16th. They have not said how participants will be chosen, but we’ll be sure to update you when they do!
