Sonic and Bomberman rush in on iPod

There can't be too many better ways to wake up than to realise you can now play two of the great, great games on your iPod.

Okay, there are obviously better ways to start the day, not least because we're not entirely convinced whether the two games in question will behave as we're hoping them to on Apple's portable music players.

Nevertheless, it's certainly encouraging to find Sonic The Hedgehog (pictured) and Bomberman now available on iTunes for play on iPod (5th generation), iPod nano (3rd generation), iPod classic.

We'll get to grips with both soon but for now we can tell you Sonic promises to be faithful conversions of its revered predecessor, offering both one- and two-handed play modes.

Bomberman, meanwhile, delivers 20 stages (including an original boss stage which is exclusive to the iPod version), three mini-games (Bomb Rollin', Bomb Buster, Bowling for Bombs), two game modes and the ability to listen to your songs as you do some blasting.

As we say, we'll try them out and come back with a verdict.
