Silver Award-winning shooter tie-in Skylanders: Cloud Patrol is now available for Android

It's taken a year and a half to arrive, but Activision's money-sucking child-trap combo series Skylanders has finally made its first appearance on Android devices.

Skylanders: Cloud Patrol won a Silver Award when it was released on iOS devices, and now children and grown-ups alike can enjoy blasting little troll beasts out of the sky on their Android phones and tablets.

And if you've got a stash of Skylanders toys hanging around the house you can input their codes and use them in the game. Which might be fun.

Unfortunately the game doesn't have NFC capabilities, meaning you can't just plop a Skylander somewhere near your device and watch it magically pop-up on screen, which sort of spoils things a bit.

Still, the blasty whack-a-mole style action is fun for a while, and the bright colours and simple presentation don't hurt your eyes too much.

You can grab Skylanders: Cloud Patrol from the Google Play Store right now for £1.28.

If you're buying it for your kids though we'd suggest making sure the Google Play Store asks for your password every time you try to make an IAP.

You wouldn't want little Timmy spending all of your money on imaginary digital things and then ending up looking sad and regretful on the front page of a tabloid, right?
