It's been more than three years since the original Ski Safari appeared on the App Store. Since then it has amassed a 140m downloads, which is an impressive feat for a paid game.

And now developer Sleepy Z is having another crack with Ski Safari 2, which it has chosen to publish alone rather than with Defiant Development, the publisher of the original game.

Ski Safari 2 sees you barrelling down a mountain pursued by an avalanche, performing a variety of tricks for points, and collecting coins with which to buy gear and vehicles.

You can also catch a lift from an eagle and ride a mammoth, and as well as the obvious snowy mountain environment there's a prehistoric landscape, complete with dinosaurs and mammoths, and a desert canyon.

The App Store description promises a multiplayer mode in which, well, read it for yourself. "Pick up powerups to hurl snowballs, flip your friends' screens upside-down, or pull a penguin out of your pocket for that quick escape!"

We don't know what the means either, but it sounds fun.

Watch Peter enjoying himself with it in the video above, and see a variety of marketing-approved snippets in the trailer below.

We'll have a review up soon, but if you can't wait you'll be able to get Ski Safari 2 for £1.49 / $1.99 from approximately midnight in the UK.
