Developer Madfinger Games has finally released some details on its forthcoming multiplayer add-on for third-person shoot-'em-up Shadowgun.

For starters, the multiplayer won't be introduced in an update as previously expected, but will instead be released as an all-new app: Shadowgun: DeadZone.

The shooter, which is expected to exclusively debut on Tegra 3-powered Android devices sometime during the first quarter of this year, will allow you to compete with up to seven of your best buddies (or worst enemies) across four different environments.

You'll be able to select one of eight unique characters and jump straight into a Deathmatch or Team Deathmatch bout, upgrade the game's wide arsenal of weapons, and unlock new elements by boosting your character's ranking.

Blown away

Shadowgun: DeadZone will also feature support for gamepads and voice chat, so you can torment your friends as you repeatedly blow them to smithereens.

"Each of us loves multiplayer games such as Battlefield or Modern Warfare 3, and we wanted to bring that same console gaming experience to mobile devices," the Madfinger team said.
