River Legends: A Fly Fishing Adventure is a fishing simulator with pixel graphics, available now on Android

River Legends: A Fly Fishing Adventure is the debut game from Dantat Studios. It's a fishing simulator with pixel graphics and it's available now on Google Play for £4.79.

I've always liked fishing games, but never the actual pursuit. I'm too impatient to wait for a bite and lack the love of the outdoors to want to be there in the first place. So a fun fishing game is definitely preferable.

In River Legends you'll set up your stall in Pine Canyons whilst searching for trophy fish amidst different landscapes. It uses pixel art which gives it a very retro look and combined with the calming music in the trailer makes it seem like this will be a pretty relaxing experience.

In an attempt to be as realistic as possible, despite the graphics implying the opposite River Legends has several systems to try and replicate fishing as closely as it can. For instance, when choosing your tackle you'll have to consider the water conditions. The fish themselves will also have a penchant for different weather conditions as well as fly types.

It sounds like there'll be a lot to consider then with variation in the environment affecting how you'll go about reeling in your prize. The trailer also suggests a wide variation in locales you get to visit. There are lakes, streams and ponds all found in a variety of forests, canyons and alpine locations.

River Legends: A Fly Fishing Adventure is available now Google Play. It's a premium game that costs £4.79. Alternatively, there's a demo you can try out if you're not entirely sold on the idea. Currently there's no iOS version of River Legends available, however, it says 'soon' on the official website so we can expect to arrive eventually.
