WWDC 2013: Ridiculous Fishing, Letterpress, Badland, and Sky Gamblers: Storm Raiders all scoop Apple Design Awards
The award for best fish dynamiting goes to...
Every year at WWDC, Apple hands out Design Awards to a group of apps in recognition of their design, technology, and innovation.
This year's crop of Apple Design Award winners features four games: Letterpress, Badland, Sky Gamblers: Storm Raiders, and Ridiculous Fishing.
Of the four games selected by The Big A for these prestigious awards, three (Letterpress, Sky Gamblers: Storm Raiders, and Ridiculous Fishing) are Pocket Gamer Gold Award winners.
Letterpress is a letter game. There's more. In it, the dev mixes word finding and base-stealing strategy to great effect, and wraps it up in a simple and delightful aesthetic.
Sky Gamblers: Storm Raiders is a hardcore flight sim in which you can fly World War II fighter planes for as long as you like. The game features some epic multiplayer scraps, too.
Ridiculous Fishing is, as the name suggests, a game about fishing in the most ridiculous manner imaginable. This usually involves dynamite, chainsaws, and large-calibre weaponry.
Badland, meanwhile, is one of the best-looking games you can get for your iPad. You can expect to find some pleasantly simple one-finger play here. Trust me.
So, are they worthy winners? We certainly think so.
