Every year at PAX Prime in Seattle, a panel of industry experts picks out ten indie games (from a list of over 100) for the prestigious PAX 10 indie games showcase.

This year, two of those ten best-of-the-best indie games - Ridiculous Fishing and Badland - are iOS titles.

At review at PG, Vlambeer's Ridiculous Fishing received a Gold Award. We described it as one of the "most innovative, well-balanced, and addictive games of the year".

It's the tale of a man out to catch as many fish as he can with a gun, a line, and some lures. Oh, and a tie if you buy one. Ridiculous Fishing is big and silly and an awful lot of fun.

We weren't quite so enamoured with Badland, to tell you the truth. While it is a gorgeous game, the controls are by no means perfect. Furthermore, the overall experience is akin to playing a game set to autopilot.

At review, we said that "Badland is a stunning-looking game, but the mechanics underneath all the glitter are a little too shallow, and the connection between you and the action a little too thin, to wholeheartedly recommend it."

Still, it's great to see iOS gaming represented at one of the biggest indie showcases of the year.

You can buy Ridiculous Fishing from the App Store for £1.99 / $2.99 [buy] and Badland for £2.49 / $3.99 [buy].
