Puzzle Quest: Chapter 1 - Battle of Gruulkar for iPhone
A tad unpronounceable, but at least it’s here
What was going to be Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords has now landed on the App Store, but has changed its name to the slightly tongue-twisting Puzzle Quest: Chapter 1 - Battle of Gruulkar. Regardless of the title, it’s great that a variation on the hit DS, PSP and mobile versions of Puzzle Quest is finally with us.
Gruulkar is the leader of the Orcs, and it’s up to you to battle through the match-three gameplay to level up your magic and power to take him on. The puzzle mechanics are blended with RPG-style questing - expanding the two dimensional puzzle genre into a more immersive experience.
We’re big fans of this unique use of addictive puzzle mechanics to create clever variations on the adventure game genre (check out Samurai Puzzle Battle if you're of a similar mind), so Puzzle Quest: Chapter 1 - Battle of Gruulkar sounds like it’s right up our street.
Also, it’s intriguing to note it says 'Chapter 1' in the title – suggesting more Puzzle Quest games are to come to the iPhone before too much longer. Cashback!
