Speaking at the Develop Panel, CEO of UK-based developer Rebellion Jason Kingsley has discussed the benefits the new sub-100MB Minis platform will bring to the PSP.

The company is apparently looking through its back catalogue to ferret out popular titles that it thinks could be relaunched digitally for Sony's handheld.

"We’re planning to find some time to look to our game IP heritage and smaller titles for PSPgo," Kingsley explains, while also comparing the Minis with products on the iPhone's App Store.

"I believe Sony will help avoid the utter release chaos that is on the Apple formats by being a bit careful about quality and technical standards. Hopefully the signal to noise ratio on the PSP will be much higher."

The Minis are due to launch in the UK today, to coincide with the (mostly) global release of the PSP hardware update, the PSPgo.

Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
