Unveiled during the May edition of the Nintendo Direct web broadcast, Pokemon Dream Radar should prove to be a rather useful tool for those people currently digging deep into Pokemon Black and White 2.

Going live on the Nintendo 3DS eShop later today, Pokemon Dream Radar is - how can I break this to you gently? - an AR game. No, wait... come back. It isn't as bad as it sounds. Or at least, it isn't as pointless as it sounds.

In Pokemon Dream Radar, you play an assistant to one Professor Burnet, who is carrying out research into the Interdream Zone.

By moving your 3DS's camera around your room, you'll be able to see Pokemon buzzing around your abode on your screen. You can then aim light beams at the critters to catch them, collecting rewards and helping Burnet with her research in the process.

Hang on, we're getting to the good part now. Once you've caught Pokemon in Pokemon Dream Radar, you'll then be able to use them in Pokemon Black and White 2. See, there IS a point to this rather dull-sounding AR game, after all.

Apparently, you'll also be able to grab special items in Pokemon Dream Radar. Oh, and Pokemon with hidden abilities that aren't available in the main game.

When Pokemon Dream Radar goes on sale later today, it will retail for £2.69. Of course, if you only have a Nintendo DS, then you're out of luck. Sorry about that.
