U2's new album may be a mixed bag, but we'd certainly never compare the band to a slavering horde of rotting undead characters lurching along for one last tilt at world domination.

(That's the Rolling Stones, obviously)

But that's what Capcom has done, while trumpeting the strong sales of the latest console version of Resident Evil 5.

The publisher says that since its release last Friday, the game has outsold the entire UK Top 200 singles chart - both CD and digital sales.

But more importantly, in its opening weekend alone, it beat the total sales to date of U2's No Line On The Horizon album. Oh, and it also grossed more that weekend that the UK's five most popular movies too.

"This is proof if any were needed that games are THE entertainment medium of choice in 2009," says Capcom's Leo Tan. Hopefully this means they're working on an iPhone version of Res Evil 5.

Anyway, to celebrate, we've used Nokia's nifty Zombie Singles site to figure out what Bono would look like as a Res Evil zombie. Perhaps if he adopted this look, sales of the album would improve...
