Welcome to Off The AppStore, a weekly feature with a twist. Namely, that while these - as with all the games we cover here - are games that you can play on your phone, they're ones that operate outside of the realms of the big two ways to play: The Google Play Store and the Apple AppStore.

That means that there might be a bit of work required in downloading alternative AppStores or APKs, or that the games can simply be played in your phone's browser. We'll make sure to detail that for each game, though. Anyway, read on to find a new game or experience to play Off The AppStore.

Indie games are definitely picking up the slack when it comes to quality and quirky entertainment in the market, but sometimes there are strange and lesser-known games that don't get enough recognition for their contributions. One such example is Changed, a pixel-art adventure game about escaping gooey furry creatures in a strange scientific facility. It has strange visuals and elements, but that just hooks us in as we get sucked into its story and the adventure. In an effort to expand its universe so that it reaches more of us, One-K has created Transfur Chase, a new and tense adventure set in the world of Changed.

Things start off as you might expect them to: You're a human floating unconscious in a tube in some lab that you've never visited. After some kind of malfunction, you manage to get out of the tube only to see that the facility is in disarray and completely abandoned… Mostly. After a few curious first steps, you find yourself being chased by a humanoid animal creature with a sticky substance covering its entire body. In an instant, you know that all this thing wants to do is give you a hug, but it's far more sinister than it seems.

If any such creature touches you for long, you'll be absorbed and become a part of their body. This means that you have no choice but to run as fast as you can, finding safety wherever it may still exist in this cursed place. You have no idea why you're here or how, and there's certainly no reason to stick around, save for sticking to the hug monsters. You have to navigate the facility to reach the outdoors. Luckily, there are still some items that can help protect you and even fight back if you find them. Strangely enough, you can collect oranges, which some non-hostile creatures will gladly accept as payment for ways to further aid your escape.

Transfur Chase is a 3D first-person pixel art adventure game about running away from sticky monsters and trying to escape their facility. You must be fast and react quickly if you're going to stay ahead of the creatures. Anything you find can potentially save your life, but you still rely on your legs to run, jump, and crouch your way to places where you can get a moment's breath. The chase is on to make the next transfer, just don't be at the end of it.
