Off the AppStore: A moment for a QuickVenture
|
  • A true series of quick adventures!
  • Pick your hero and team up with a random party
  • Roguelite elements change everything from enemies to events

Welcome to Off The AppStore, a weekly feature with a twist. Namely, that while these - as with all the games we cover here - are games that you can play on your phone, they're ones that operate outside of the realms of the big two ways to play: The Google Play Store and the Apple AppStore.

That means that there might be a bit of work required in downloading alternative AppStores or APKs, or that the games can simply be played in your phone browser. We'll make sure to detail that for each game though. Anyway, read on to find a new game or experience to play Off The AppStore.

It's not every day that I find myself intrigued by a demo where I want to urge the creator to hurry up. But then again, a demo should give you a taste of what's to come so you can get excited and block out hours of the day. However, since this is a mobile game, you might only need to block out a few coffee and bathroom breaks. This is because the demo is for a game called QuickVenture by GabrielBRQ. So sit back and ponder what constitutes a quick adventure, mobile or otherwise, and let me help you with that.

Welcome to the section of fantasy realms where the only thing that matters is which party is the strongest. You've got the usual mix of heroes going against the usual blend of villains to fight through the land to get stronger and find the best loot. You get to pick one hero to represent the leader, and several other heroes will attend the party. As a team of unexpected allies, you guys will go through several regions and slay the strongest so that you can take their place.

Heroes and villains face off!

It's a four-on-four situation where each side acts, and team members act based on speed. But it's not as easy as telling one of your guys to attack a specific guy since they'll pick the targets themselves. That's right: Your team, the enemies, the targeting, and the victory results are all randomized. You can get stronger between fights, but there's almost always a drawback to whatever upgrade or treasure you pick. All you can choose is the position of your leader and whether they attack with physical or magical skills. You'll have to rely on your reaction prowess to aim for those sweet critical strikes that can completely turn the tide. Besides, you won't earn enough stars to unlock the other heroes unless you make some decent progress.

QuickVenture truly is quick since you can go through several realms in minutes if RNG is favourable, or each fight can be an ordeal if it's not. Still, that's the challenge, isn't it? Sometimes, you'll get a bad hand, but how you use it matters. So, make it quick.

The QuickVenture demo is available to play from its itch.io page!
