O2 mobile game download charts and new releases: September 26th

The charts haven't shifted a great deal this week, which is especially surprising considering the big game releases we've seen over the last month. Spore and Star Wars: The Force Unleashed have gone the way of the official Olympic games titles and Guitar Hero Mobile III rather quickly – so quickly, in fact, we wouldn't be at all surprised to see them crop back up in the Top 10 over the next few weeks.

But there's still plenty of mobile gaming goodness to wallow in, with a particular lilt toward the retro gamer in the new releases and chart line-up. First and foremost among the nostalgic gems is undoubtedly Virtua Fighter Mobile, and Glu have done a grand job of re-engineering Sega's famous 3D beat-'em-up to fit the mobile platform.

Swinging in from behind Akira, Lau and Pai is Bionic Commando Rearmed. This classic Capcom coin-op has aged extremely well, and even though the long-limbed Nazi assassin has had something of a next-gen makeover on the big consoles, the mobile version keeps to the beloved, 2D side-scrolling style that so easily devoured our 10p pieces.

Close behind the retro contingent is a strong regiment of TV game shows. These have been popular with pocket gamers in recent months, but today we're seeing a couple of oldies sneak up and push newcomers like Deal or No Deal off the Top 10 list. We haven't been told to 'say what we see' by Roy Walker and Mr Chips for ages, but it's great to see the velvet tones of the nicest Irishman alive can still please the pocket gamers in Catchphrase.

And there's a bargain double-bill of gameshow adaptations in the new releases with Family Fortunes and Blockbusters bundled up into the TV Gameshow 2 in 1 package. Full House Bingo and MillionPoker round off this week's O2 New Releases and Top 10 Charts in classic gaming style – combining both the retro and game show elements that are obviously so popular right now.
