Namco has announced that it will removing the weird and wormy Noby Noby Boy from the App Store on October 9th.

The bizarre brainchild of Katamari Damacy creator Keita Takahashi, Noby Noby Boy puts you in control of a stretchy snake-like creature called BOY.

Using your fingers, you can pull and stretch BOY into shapes of your choosing, slice him up and turn him into a working clock - even extend his length by walking using GPS tracking features.

Though the iOS version was disappointing - Takahashi himself revealed that he was "not completely satisfied" with the finished product - it did let the Apple crowd join PS3 players in contributing to the growth of GIRL, a virtual character snaking its way slowly across the solar system.

However, from Tuesday next, iPhone and iPad owners will have to bid a final farewell to this pair of elastic weirdos. The game will be removed, and Namco says "we cannot guarantee correct function of content once service is suspended, and we will no longer be able to offer support for it."

Speaking on its blog, the Noby Noby Boy dev team wrote: "Thank you for playing this silly app".
