Samsung Galaxy S II arrives in the UK - £440 unlocked or £32 per month on contract
The eagle has landed

Step aside, LG Optimus 2x - the Samsung Galaxy S II has now taken the crown of fastest smartphone (Android or otherwise).
With a dual-core 1.2GHz CPU and Android Gingerbread pre-installed, it’s certainly an eye-catching device in terms of specs.
That’s not even mentioning the rather lovely Super AMOLED Plus screen, which is more than a match for the iPhone 4’s Retina display.
Surprisingly, while the contract prices at the moment seem to reflect the phone’s current status as flagship Android device, the unlocked models are relatively low for a new handset, with online store Clove offering the phone for £440 unlocked.
If you don’t care too much for carrier freedom, then you might want to check out O2’s current prices.
Right now the network is offering the handset for free on a fairly barebones £32 per month two-year contract (£768 over the length of the contrat). Otherwise you can pick up the phone for £399 on PAYG.
Vodafone is another UK network that will be stocking the device, but it’s still at the ‘email me for alerts’ stage, so you’ll have to wait patiently to find out if it can match O2’s offer.
