Pocket Gaming 2008 finally kicks off
|
DS + PSP

Plenty occurred in 1939 and 1940 but a large chunk of the period from September to May became known as the Phoney War, because not much actually happened.

Now it would be lazy in the extreme to compare the release schedule of DS and PSP in 2008 with a period of history that changed the world, but you see what we're trying to say. With the exception of the excellent Advance Wars: Dark Conflict – but which has singularly failed to dent the DS charts – there haven't been many/any key releases in 2008 yet.

This all changes, however. Not because of Bratz: Super Babyz you understand (although it seems sure to do well with its target audience).

No, with Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles, Need for Speed ProStreet and Patapon on PSP, not to mention Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings, Cooking Mama 2 and FIFA Street 3 on DS, we're starting to see some big guns being rolled into action.

Even games such as Miami Nights, Brain Challenge and Paint by DS have the potential to excite the otherwise non-gaming market that now finds itself with a dual screen in its handbag/taped to its zipperframe.

And frankly we just can't wait to get our hands on Patapon for some hyper-cool 2D rhythm-action strategy gaming. Sure it's only going to appeal to the hardcore, but it's going to make us dance (we hope).
