Forget the games, it's PSP Slim & Lite day!

So, after the odd little hiccup, the 'new' PSP is finally out today. (We've actually just received ours – expect an update soon.)

Sony is obviously hoping its arrival will sweep a new wave of consumers into the PSP fold, yet it seems a little strange not to have a heavy hitting game to release alongside the revised hardware.

We're not marketing experts, clearly, but that's what our instincts would guide us to do. After all, what better way to entice people to buy a console than to provide them with a must-have game to play on it?

Sure, there are several such titles already available in PSP's back catalogue, but none will necessarily have the impact (and, crucially, retail exposure) of the latest and greatest arrival.

Still, as you'll see from the list below, there's no such candidate today. A shame, then, and something of a missed opportunity.

After all, it's not as if PSP Slim & Lite owners are going to be rushing home to try out new features such as being able to display their PSP content on the TV – the necessary video-out cables aren't available until next Friday…
