EA axes seven more of its games with Frontline Commando 2 and Deer Hunter on the chopping block
|
  • EA is set to shutter seven more of its mobile titles by January next year
  • Contract Killer: Sniper, Deer Hunter Classic and more are all set to shutter
  • They join the biggest name thus far with The Simpsons: Tapped Out

Well, if you found it odd that EA was shuttering hit city builder The Simpsons: Tapped Out while leaving other relatively less popular members of its catalogue untouched, now's the time for you to be proven right. As reported by the folks over at GameRant, seven older games have now been added to EA's already cramped chopping block.

The titles being removed are Blood & Glory: Immortals, Contract Killer: Sniper, Deer Hunter Classic, Dino Hunter: Deadly Shores, Eternity Warriors 4 and both Frontline Commando 2 and Frontline Commando: D-Day. All seven will reportedly shutter on January 29th, four days after The Simpsons.

While none of these were quite on the level of something like Tapped Out, which was a major hit over the years, the fact they're being axed speaks volumes about how much EA seems to be throwing its catalogue aside.

Unfortunately, I think that this is just a fact of life at the moment, that mobile games are always eventually going to be axed with game preservation being in as dire a state as it is, and EA being, well, EA. Frankly, it's surprising this didn't happen sooner. Not that this is anything more than cold comfort for fans, or even those who just have a bit of nostalgic attachment to them.

You can take a step back to the past if you fancy, and see how we reviewed Frontline Commando 2 when it was first released, or take a walk on the wild side and see what we thought of Dino Hunter: Deadly Shores for that matter!

If you want to hear us discuss about mobile in-depth, including our thoughts on whether horror can actually work on the platform, and only the occasional in-depth tangent, why not check out the latest edition of the Pocket Gamer podcast?
