Apple's Game Center has 67 million users
The mother of all leaderboards
Apple has been spilling some facts and figures during its Let's Talk iPhone event in San Francisco, and among them is the news that the company's social gaming platform Game Center has 67 million active users.
Game Center is a relative latecomer to the iOS social gaming world, following OpenFeint, Crystal, Plus+, and Gameloft Live!
It received a cool reception at launch, but it's inevitably been widely used, and it's due to be updated with photos, achievements, and recommendations with iOS 5 – all of which we've known about for a while.
To put that 67 million in perspective, rival social gaming service OpenFeint, which was acquired earlier this year by Japanese counterpart GREE, currently has more than 120 million users across iOS and Android.
Apple didn't mention that, of course.
