First Japanese PSP game to sell 2 million is a monster

New figures declare Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G a PSP record breaker

First Japanese PSP game to sell 2 million is a monster

Another week's worth of game software sales in Japan has been totted up by retail tracker Media Create and it shows it's another week of celebration at Capcom.

Because, as reported this morning by IGN, Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G has reached another milestone - that of the two million sales.

Since the game's release in Japan on March 27th, it's shipped two million copies, which is a first for any game in the successful Monster Hunter series and - more importantly - also a first for a Japanese PSP title.

Overall software sales for the week across all formats still only rank the game at number two though. Mario Kart Wii, released on April 10th in Japan, managed to pip it to the top slot.

Still, a PSP title still selling in such massive numbers almost a month after launch remains an impressive feat.
