Did someone say crossplay?

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate coming to 3DS, Wii U in 2013

Fans of action-RPGs and monster hunting will be pleased to learn that Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate has been announced for a western release.

News of the release came during Nintendo's Wii U press conference in New York, when it announced that Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate would come to Europe and the United States in March 2013.

Better still, gamers will be able to choose what platform they'll play it on: Capcom will release the game for both the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS.

Touching, really

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate – the last of the third generation of Monster Hunter titles – will make full use of the touchscreen feature of both the 3DS and Wii U (tablet), allowing players quick and intuitive access to in-game maps, book, and weapons.

While it can be enjoyed by yourself, Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate will also support 1-4 3DS or Wii U players via a local wireless connection.

That's right, Nintendo will allow Wii U and 3DS players to enjoy Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate's 200+ quests together via wireless play.

Because save data for the game will be inter-compatible with both the 3DS and Wii U, Gamers who own both systems will be able to hunt for monsters on the go and in the living room all from the same save file.

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate's producer Ryozo Tsujimoto sheds a bit more light on the cross-platform functionality in the announcement video below.
