How Monkey Island 2: Special Edition should look
But probably won’t
We love The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition. So do a lot of you, we suspect. In fact, some people love it so much that they’ll go to the lengths of producing a proof-of-concept video to show how they’d render a potential (inevitable?) sequel.
Monkey Island 2 was received just as well as - if not better than - the first game, and a group of industrious German fans would like to see the graphics in a potential remake given a little more than the lick of paint the original received.
The video below shows how they’ve taken some of the original artwork and laid it over a 3D scene to give a lovely sense of depth.
Of course, it’s one thing to build a scene like this, it’s quite another to rebuild an entire game. Still, it would be worth LucasArts at least considering a similar approach for future projects.
