Modern Combat 5 cracked by early-access contest winner and released onto the web

Gameloft held a competition and the winners got early access to Modern Combat 5. Which sounds like a pretty nice prize, right?

In return one of the winners cracked the game and started distributing it online. The moral of the story? Don't be nice to anyone. Ever.

Gameloft has now said that anyone playing an unregistered early copy of the game will be banned, and has put measures in place to make sure that the naughty too-early adopters are "incapacitated".

Which sounds particularly sinister within the militaristic context of the game.

In a post of the Modern Combat 4 Facebook community hub, Gameloft community manager Florian Weber had some justifiably strong words to say.

"As you can imagine I am really pissed off. To anybody who got MC5 already, shame on you! We are making games for you and all you can do is pirate them?"

"Anybody which is talking to me and shows in some way that he already has MC5 will get an instant ban. Seriously, this is why we can't have nice things."

Modern Combat 5: Blackout will be officially released on July 24th. Which is Thursday. It'll set you back £4.99 / $6.99 when it does.
