Modern Combat 2: Black Pegasus iPhone hits the New Zealand App Store

Gameloft’s contemporary FPS series Modern Combat is back with its hotly anticipated sequel, Black Pegasus, hitting iPhone and iPod touch tonight.

The game gives you an all expenses paid trip around the world, stopping off at 12 battlefields in the Middle-East, Eastern Europe, and South America, as you lay the smackdown on all sorts of global nuisances and assorted baddies.

You’ve got 15 realistic weapons to grapple with, and three different control modes to choose from. Plus, iPhone 4 and fourth-generation iPod touch users get to use the device’s extra gyro sensor for advanced controls and more accurate aiming.

As well as a bumper single-player campaign, Modern Combat 2 packs a fully featured multiplayer experience.

You’ve got ten player online battles, four different modes (Battle, Team Battle, Defuse the Bomb and Capture the Flag), and an RPG-esque level-up system that has you ranking up through 72 promotions, gaining new weapons and rewards.

It all looks drop-dead gorgeous, with high-resolution graphics for players on Retina-screened devices.

It’s out now in New Zealand, which means it will hit international App Stores as the day ticks over and will be waiting for you in iTunes tomorrow morning. Modern Combat 2: Black Pegasus will cost £3.99 / $6.99 / €5.49 on iPhone and iPod touch.
