Meteorfall: Krumit's Tale, the charming card-based roguelike, launches for iOS & Android on August 27th

Meteorfall: Krumit's Tale finally has a confirmed release date for iOS and Android – August 27th. This follow-up to 2018's rather excellent Meteorfall aims to build upon its predecessor's strong foundations across the board.

If this is your first exposure to the series, the Meteorfall games are card-based roguelikes where you'll pick a hero and do battle with a series of strange and silly creatures. It's all charming, good-humoured fun, though there was also a surprising amount of depth to the original release.

Interestingly, Krumit's Tale sidesteps its predecessor's Tinder-like swiping in favour of a grid-based system. This is said to add some further depth and longevity to the core action. You'll also have to carefully manage your deck and learn how to adapt to tricky situations, even when you inevitably lose it all.

PG alum Harry Slater reviewed the original Meteorfall at launch back in 2018, saying "Meteorfall is a supremely welcome addition to the mobile card genre. It's brilliantly well put together, super smart, and is deep enough that you can easily lose hours to it."

There are now so many great card-based roguelikes available on mobile, and all signs point to Krumit's Tale being one of the best yet. Back in June, the long-awaited mobile port of Slay the Spire finally arrived. Check out our full written review for that one right here.

And if Meteorfall: Krumit's Tale has piqued your interest, you can pre-order it now from the App Store or pre-register to play on Google Play. It'll launch on August 27th as a premium game priced at $6.99.
