There's no doubt the DS is perfect for mini-games. We've had WarioWare: Touched!, Project Rub and Crash Boom Bang, to name a few of the examples that have already graced the handheld. The versatility of the touchscreen makes the possibilities for mini-game fun almost endless, after all.

So it's no surprise Nintendo has decided to bring Mario Party to the DS, as we announced back in July. And although there have been 11 games in the series already, potentially this DS version could be the best yet.

Nintendo still hasn't released any firm details on the game, but it has at least given us some new screenshots. As predicted, these show that the board game part of the affair – where players take turns throwing a dice, moving around and playing the mini-game shown on the square they land on – is still in there.

It also shows a few of the mini-games themselves, including a fun looking carpet race down a banister, a go-kart event with a touchscreen wheel with which to steer, and some sort of candle blowing out game.

If it supports four-player Wi-Fi – which we're sure it will – and has plenty of decent games, this could be the party game of choice this Christmas. Mario Party DS is due out on November 21st.
