Magic Duels: Origins, the card-battling successor to Duels of the Planeswalkers, arrives on iPad in July

Wizards of the Coast is bringing a new card battler by the name of Magic Duels: Origins to iPad this July.

It's the successor to the company's Duels of the Planeswalkers series (the latest being last year's Magic 2015). It's to be free to play and will feature a story line based on the upcoming Magic Origins set.

As such, Magic Duels will have the first playable Planeswalker cards, and involves exploring the origin stories of the five most iconic Planeswalkers.

It'll have a solo mode with "virtually endless" AI opponents to go up against. On top of that, the quest system will have individual and community challenges every week.

Of course, there will also be plenty of multiplayer options, including the return of Two-Headed Giant mode. It'll also be released on PC and PS4 so you might be able to play against people on those versions too.

Magic Duels will also have an improved Deck Builder, apparently, and new tutorials and guidance for those who want it.

That's all we know about it for now. We'll let you know more about it once we hear it.
