Acclaimed puzzler Machinarium coming to Apple's iPad, possibly out next month

Critically lauded point-and-click adventure game Machinarium is coming to the iPad, despite initial worries about the porting process.

Speaking to PG last December, the game's developer Amanita Design noted, "We want to bring it to iPad, but it won't happen soon as it's very complicated to rebuild the game with a completely new engine.

"Machinarium is built in Flash, and, as you probably know, Apple boycotted this format."

However, a version of the game for Apple's magical tablet has now been confirmed.

"It's almost finished, but we still need to fix a lot of small bugs and test it properly. It should be ready during the next month...hopefully," Jakub Dvorský, Amanita Design's founder, stated.


Machinarium places you in the mechanical shoes of a robot called Josef, and tasks you with preventing the destruction of a city's tower, by successfully solving a series a puzzles and brainteasers.

If you get stuck - which is likely - the game features a two-tier hint system and a sketched walkthrough, which is unlocked through a mini-game.

Machinarium contains no written or spoken dialogue, instead using animated thought bubbles to convey important information.

A solid release date and price is yet to be revealed, but we'll keep you updated on both.
