There's a MacGyver puzzle game coming to iOS and Android next week

If you're a child of the 80s, or a member of the Richard Dean Anderson fan club, we've got some great news for you.

There's a MacGyver-themed puzzle game coming to the App Store and Google Play on May 21.

Dubbed MacGyver: Deadly Descent, our first thoughts are that it doesn't look terribly MacGyver-y, so you can forget about hotwiring a hovercraft using a paper clip and a wad of chewing gum.

You can, however, rest easy knowing that MacGyver series creator Lee David Zlotoff had some input on the title - and that there's a lot of puzzling involved in the gameplay as MacGyver rushes to save a team of trapped scientists from a deadly virus.

First name: Angus

Developer Fairplay Media notes that you'll have to "tackle man-sized problems in a pressure situation" during your time in Deadly Descent, and that its manly puzzles will challenge your sense of logic, memory, and ingenuity.

Happily, the £1.99 / $2.99 download comes with links to a free "cheat app" to help you out if you get stuck.

Better yet, a portion of all sales will go to The MacGyver Foundation which aims to "support educational opportunities to help create the next generation of problem-solvers".

Unfortunately, we don't have a trailer for MacGyver: Deadly Descent - but we do have a clip of the original MacGyver opening sequence.

You're welcome.
