Lost Sphear, Tokyo RPG Factory’s newest melancholy RPG, launched on Nintendo Switch today. Much like the game’s predecessor, I Am Setsuna, Lost Sphear is very much a throwback to classic Square Enix RPGs, featuring an ATB system inspired by Chrono Trigger, and many other trappings from your favorite Japanese role-playing games of yore.

Lost Sphear tells the story of Kanata, a young boy who awakes from a nightmare to find that his hometown is fading away. Kanata sets out with a few companions to restore the world, manifesting his memories into reality to recover what has crumbled away.

The game has made some improvements since I Am Setsuna. The ATB system offers much more flexibility. You’ll be able to strategise to your heart’s content and choose where each of your characters should be placed on the field, even in the thick of battle.

Lost Sphear is available now on the eShop, or you can purchase a physical copy from the Square Enix Online Store.
