We've been following the slow launch of the PSP's LittleBigPlanet avidly, being one of the games we're most excited about as Sony attempts to breathe life back into its handheld console.

Well, Siliconera has been dabbling with an early build of the game at a recent Sony event, and noticed a peculiarity on the menu screen where you'll choose which levels you want to play. The options, apparently, are story levels, downloaded levels and purchased levels.

The PS3 version of LittleBigPlanet is rich with purchased level packs and virtual goodies, so it seems Sony is looking to continue its in-game micro-transaction model (though being Sony, micro-transaction might be the wrong turn of phrase, but still) and provide additional, paid content for the cutesy handheld platformer.

Would you be willing to pay for extra levels and/or costumes? If so, how much? Your thoughts on a postcard.

Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
