Even if you're not lucky enough to have the shiny brick of a console otherwise known as the PS3 in your home, you'll probably have heard about the game LittleBigPlanet (pictured).

Since the ambitious creation/community affair was announced early last year, gamers have been keenly waiting to see what Sony will do with it. Going on what's been seen so far, the cute customisable platformer could be the biggest thing to hit PS3 yet when released this September.

So today's news – as reported by CVG – that the game is in development for PSP as well is massive news for the handheld. The site is citing a source from within Sony Studio Liverpool for the tip-off, although carries no further information about how the game will play. Clearly it would be a more streamlined version of the home console game but the PS3 game's 2D visuals could still remain similar in style.

Certainly the online community aspect of the game (on PS3 players will be able to build and customise their own sections of the game's planet for others to explore) could work on PSP. Or perhaps some sort of level sharing or even portable creation tool where you could work on aspects of your creations on the move to then transfer them to your PS3. Of course, there's also the chance it'll be a completely stand-alone game, similar to Spore Creatures on DS.

Now a leak has allegedly come from the developers we'll be waiting to see if Sony confirms the game's existence. We'll keep you updated.
