We've been eager to get our hands on BitMonster's visually stunning iOS adventure Lili since we first caught wind of it back in July.

Thankfully, our wait is nearly at an end, for Lili has just surfaced on the New Zealand App Store.

Given the game's colourful palette and Pixar-esque graphical style, it might surprise you to learn that this RPG-adventure hybrid is the brainchild of six ex-Epic Games staffers.

Though the Unreal Engine is running the show here, it's taking a break from moving gruff-voiced marines around grey environments.

Nope, instead of focusing on super-buff sci-fi soldiers, Lili centres on the eponymous heroine, an enigmatic young girl whom you have to guide across a mysterious island.

Combat is off the table: there'll be no scissor kicks or dragon punches on Lili's watch. However, we're promised plenty of free-roaming exploration, conversation, and mini-games.

Lili will be available to US and European iPhone and iPad owners later this evening. It will support the iPhone 5's new widescreen display, by the way. The entry fee is £2.99 / $4.99.
