Latest on the DS and Game Boy versions of Tomb Raider: Legend

Whilst Angelina Jolie muses over signing up for another Tomb Raider movie, DS and GBA-owning Lara fans will soon be able to get to grips with the real thing, thanks to the impending Lara Croft Tomb Raider: Legend for Nintendo's machines.

We had a very sneaky preview of this title back in May at games show E3 (which has, coincidentally, since been consigned to somewhat tomb-like status itself) but now Eidos has decided to reveal a few more screenshots.

Those who were with us back in spring (or who have played or read our review of the PSP version) may already know that this tomb raiding adventure delves into into Lara's secret past. Eidos also says it's boosted the adventurer's polygon count and animation significantly for the new game, enabling Lara to seamlessly interact with and overcome objects.

Not that you'll be able to spend too long staring at the fancy fire and water effects or taking in the various exotic locations though, as the world is packed with peril for our heroine. Hopefully the revamped control system will enable our heroine to get out of scrapes, and offer a variety of ways to approach problems, including, of course, her distinctive gunplay.

Will the extra time invested in the DS and GBA enable the game to improve upon the solid PSP outing? Will Eidos get the best out of the touch screen with one of gaming's most touchable heroines? Will Miss Jolie come to her senses and dump Brad? All (well, most, anyway) will be revealed when we get our hands on Lara in the near future for a review. In the meantime, we'll leave you to check out the new images and think happy thoughts about Angelina.
