Ki-Gou Keikaku is an upcoming alt-history strategy RPG from Kancolle's developers
Time and again
- Ki-Gou Keikaku is a newly teased strategy RPG from Kancolle devs C2Architecture
- It's set in an alternate version of the Showa period
- It seems to focus on squad-level tactical battles
I have always been a bit iffy on April Fool's. Both because you get the occasional announcement you really wish were true, and many legit launches tend to fly under the radar. So I'm pleased to find that the upcoming alt-history RPG Project Ki, or Ki-Gou Keikaku, seems very real!
Coming to us from the Kancolle developers C2Architecture, Ki-Gou Keikaku is, as mentioned above, an alternate-history RPG where you seem to command a squad of soldiers in battle. As many have pointed out, there's seemingly quite a bit of Valkyria Chronicles about this upcoming project.
Project Ki is set during the Showa Period of the Japanese calendar, which covers from the 1920s to the 80s. So there's a whole wealth of periods Project Ki might be set in, although with what we've seen in the revealed screenshots, it's likely no later than the 50s or 60s.
Ki-whizz
It'll be interesting to see how Project Ki turns out. It's slated to release on mobile, but it'd certainly be a departure from C2Architecture's most famous game, Kantai Collection. If it's premium rather than free-to-play, I'll be doubly surprised, but more than likely this'll hew close to the existing freemium model. As for when we'll see more? Judging by the screenshots, this is already very far along in development. So I wouldn't be surprised if we get a proper confirmation in the next few months, or at the very least find out whether Ki-Gou Keikaku is fully legit before the end of the year!
