If anything demonstrates how open a platform the iPhone is, it's Hi, How Are You?, a visually stunning platform-puzzler based on the artwork of Daniel Johnston.

Who's Daniel Johnston? You may remember the name from the early '90s, when Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain was photographed wearing an 'I love Daniel Johnston' T-shirt. Millions of impressionable fans sought Johnston out and discovered that he was a mentally unstable songwriter. Since then his life has been celebrated in the documentary The Devil and Daniel Johnston.

Hi, How Are You? is based on a mural by Johnston, and it involves guiding a frog-like creature called Jeremiah through several levels made up of green squares that you light up by touching. Some techical and design flaws keep it from being a true classic, but it's a solid and interesting game nonetheless, rightly attracting a lot of attention from the press when it came out last year.

If you're interested, it's 59p / 99c this weekend to celebrate Independence Day. Grab it using the link below.
