Gameloft's Heroes of Order & Chaos is DOTA on your mobile

Gameloft is preparing to blast its way into the MOBA (multiplayer online battle arena) genre with upcoming iOS title Heroes of Order & Chaos.

While not particularly well known on mobile, MOBA games are currently the hottest thing around in the world of PC gaming, with titles like Valve's DOTA 2, League of Legends, and - indeed - the original DOTA mod for Warcraft 3 attracting millions of players across the planet.

Effectively a sub-genre of real-time strategy (think RPG combined with strategy), MOBAs see a few players go head-to-head in order to push their way past vicious towers (aided by AI-controlled minions) and destroy an object at the enemy's base.

Gameloft's first attempt doesn't rock the MOBA genre boat too much, with the standard three-'lane' map included and various staples of the genre such as upgrades, 'jungles', and independent creatures all making an appearance.

We'll have a more detailed preview of the game up a little later. We'll also hopefully get confirmation on whether it'll be an iPad-only title or not very soon.

For now, have a look at the screenshots for Heroes of Order & Chaos in the gallery above.
