If you're a long time reader of this site, chances are good that you're familiar with Kemco - the Japanese publisher of award-winning retro JRPGs like Cross Hearts Arcadia and Symphony of the Origin.

Now, Kemco is looking to broaden its reach to the 3DS by releasing it Silver Award-winning Japanese roleplaying game Grinsia for the 3DS.

Destructoid reports that publisher Nicalis will be handling the port. While we don't have a release date to report yet, there's a brief tease that the 3DS version of Grinsia will feature new musical arrangements.

A knowing Grinsia

In our review of Grinsia, we noted that it "looks, sounds, and plays like a relic from the past", boasting "cute characters, 2D graphics, a predictable storyline, and turn-based encounters that occur entirely at random and without warning".

This adds up to a nostalgic trip down 16-bit memory lane that will surely appeal to fans of classic JRPGs, recalling classics like Final Fantasy VI or Breath of Fire.

While the addition of Grinsia to the 3DS' library of roleplaying games is welcome news, we can't help but hope that Kemco considers porting its first-ever 3D RPG Alphadia Genesis over to the 3DS as well.
