ngmoco’s Neil Young to deliver GDC Mobile keynote

Details on this year’s Game Developers’ Conference (GDC) have begun to filter out over at the official website, with the announcement that ex-Electronic Arts vice president and founder of the iPhone-dedicated studio ngmoco, Neil Young, will deliver the mobile keynote speech.

The summary of his ‘Why the iPhone just changed everything’ speech highlights his judgment that Apple’s handset ranks among gaming history’s most important consoles, such as the Atari VCS, NES, Game Boy and PlayStation.

“With far reaching impacts on publishing, distribution and development the iPhone has merged the best of mobile with traditional games and then added new media economics for good measure,” Young will suggest, and also share his ideas for the future of the platform and the opportunities for other developers to follow his lead and give up their day jobs.

Considering the quality and positive reception of ngmoco’s games, such as Topple and Rolando (our sister site Pocket Gamer’s only Platinum Award winning iPhone game to date), Young’s speech will definitely be a highpoint of the celebrated conference.

Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
