Fishlabs's anticipated space-trader Galaxy on Fire 2 has had a good launch, coming fifth in Pocket Gamer sister site Quality Index's Top 10 games of October by review score, and breaking into the Top 10 grossing chart on iTunes.

Originally a Java game, Galaxy on Fire 2 is a graphically rich iPhone homage to the space traders of yore, such as Frontier and Freelancer. We gave it a Silver Award at review, praising its scope, variety, and general production values.

Fishlabs has just released its first update. 1.0.2 fixes five major bugs, 15 minor bugs, and adds a couple of significant gameplay tweaks.

The level cap is now 20, the camera movement in the space lounge is now skippable, and it's now possible to fast-forward through time if you're using the autopilot and there are no enemies in sight, saving you from slow approaches to space stations.

You can also listen to your iPod while you play, and if you suddenly decide you speak a different language whilst playing you can switch languages within the game.

Click on the App Store link below to see the full list of bug fixes and tweaks. Galaxy on Fire 2 is still available at its introductory price of £3.99 / $6.99 until iOS 4.2 comes along - and with it another update, making the game a universal app for iPhone and iPad - after which it'll cost £5.99 / $9.99.
