Futurama is getting a new mobile game about delivering dangerous cargo

Given that Futurama has been cancelled twice over the years its fans are pretty much starved for news about it.

Hence the announcement of a new Futurama game for mobile is very much welcome. But, er, it may not quite be the game you want.

Still, beggars can't be choosers, as we are told.

Developer Wooga says that it's to be called Futurama: Game of Drones and will be a puzzle game.

The idea will be to connect groups of delivery drones in order to safely deliver hazardous cargo in dangerous areas.

Update: It's a match-4 game and is currently available to download on Google Play, if you want to check it out.

The journey is said to follow the Planet Express crew - Fry, Bender, Leela at the very least, then - as they try to compete with longtime shipping rival MomCo.

While it is a puzzle game it seems the story will be a big part of the draw here.

On the writing team is Dave Grossman (Secret of Monkey Island, The Wolf Among Us), Jonathon Myers (Game of Thrones: Ascent) and one of the original Futurama writers, Patric M. Verrone.

There's no other information on Futurama: Game of Drones yet but we'll update you once there is.
