How are you getting on in our Fruit Ninja high score competition? Managed to beat Gamer X's score yet? Tricky, isn't it?

A top-quality Fruit Ninja player isn't born - it takes skill, patience, and practice.

Or you could cheat a bit and get a masterclass from the people who made it.

Which is exactly what we've got for you below. I'll hand you over to James Schultz from Halfbrick Studios - the maker of Fruit Ninja - to give you his top ten tips for achieving an unassailable high score.

1. Slice fruit when it reaches the top of the screen: that's when it's either moving at its slowest or completely still - the perfect time to cause some carnage! 2. Focus on combos. Take a leaf out of Sensei's book and be patient. Don't settle for a single piece of fruit unless you really have to. Always see if more fruit appears and go for the combo. 3. Don't be afraid to drop fruit, for no fruit is worth the risk of slicing a bomb. It's better to sacrifice a life than to end the game. Besides, you earn a new life for every 100 points you score. 4. Make the pomegranate your #1 priority. Always aim for the pomegranate as soon as it appears. Get enough hits and it could be the difference between earning a life back and starting all over again. 5. Use Bomb Deflects. "Slice fruit, avoid bombs" sounds simple, right? Not always. Even ninjas make mistakes, so head on over to Gutsu's Cart and grab some Bomb Deflects. You'll be glad you did. 6. Purchase some Berry Blasts. These supercharged strawberries pack a serious punch. As the name suggests, each berry explodes on impact, taking out everything within a small radius. That means more combos and less interference from those pesky bombs. 7. Slow and steady wins the race. Focus your mind, free your soul, become one with the game. Fast strokes are more likely to end in disaster, so slow it down and focus on angles. Long precision swipes are the way to go. 8. Listen for bombs. Playing with sound turned on can be incredibly useful, especially as a round progresses. Experienced ninjas will hear a bomb before they see it, and this can make all the difference in the heat of battle. 9. Use multi-touch on the pomegranate. As mentioned above, the pomegranate plays an important role in any ninja's success. Try using two or three fingers and swipe in a small circular motion. This will maximise hits and can easily turn the tide in your favour. 10. Stand on one leg and rub your belly. Okay, so this may or may not work. Still, if you've read this far, you should have more than enough knowledge to get a new high score. Practice makes perfect, so keep trying and don't give up. It's all up to you now! Got everything you need to know? Reckon you can bust out a high score? Then, head on over to our Gamer X competition for Fruit Ninja and Fruit Ninja HD and show the world how great you are. There are prizes in it for the best players, too!
