Santa Ragione will finally be bringing its abstract first-person runner FOTONICA to iOS this summer. I couldn't be happier about this.

FOTONICA was originally released on PC three years ago, standing out for its geometric abstractions and blistering pace.

You automatically run in a first-person view through a series of fascinating low-poly worlds. You just hold the screen to charge and let go to jump.

You'll need to master the timing of jumping while you play as there are enormous chasms to leap over at times. The challenge ramps up quickly, too, as you gain speed rapidly. At its fastest, FOTONICA is almost overwhelming.

What's quite unusual for a runner is the sense of discovery that FOTONICA offers. Although presented in just a few colours and (mostly) line art, the worlds feel strange enough that you don't know what to expect next.

FOTONICAThe PC version of FOTONICA is a blast but we're expecting this iOS version to trump it. You see, Santa Ragione revealed on the Touch Arcade forums that this upcoming iOS version is a complete revamp, and has more content.

It still has the endless running mode, as well as the level-based challenges for you to complete. But there are more levels, more modes, and extra options to explore on iOS.

It will also support a local multiplayer experience on a single screen. You'll also be able to play it in landscape and portrait mode.

Santa Ragione is just putting the finishing touches on FOTONICA for iOS. It's expected to released this summer.

We'll let you know if we hear any more about the game. In the meantime, check out the game's official website.
