XD Games has just announced the opening of registrations for Flash Party’s first-ever major tournament. The mobile and PC fighting game will be hosting a competition in the North American region on April 8th, where the best of the best from the platform fighting game community will battle it out. Handsome rewards will be up for grabs, as the total prize pool is $10,000.

Flash Party’s major NA tournament, which has been dubbed the Spring Open, will host a maximum of 512 people. The contest will take place over the course of a single day, with a 1v1 and double elimination format being followed. Registrations will be done on a first-come, first-serve basis and as soon as 512 of them are hit, sign-ups will close.

Especially for this event, Flash Party has teamed up with the VGBootCamp YouTube channel to commence the tournament in style. Before the fight begins, an exhibition match will take place between probably four of the best Smash Bros titans. Here’s a look at who will be participating:

  • Void – the current best platform fighter in the world
  • Zain – the best Super Smash Bros. Melee player in the world
  • Coney – the Smash Bros. community’s largest variety streamer
  • Riddles – top five Super Smash Bros. Ultimate player

In terms of grand prizes for participants, the overall winner will receive $5,000 and a uniquely customized in-game avatar. The victor must submit their character and design requirements to the team so they can be immortalized as the first Spring Open champion. The remaining $5,000 will be split evenly between all runners-up in the top 16.

While the Spring Open is going on, viewers will also be able to tune into the VGBC Twitch channel to spot some easter eggs. These will grant various rewards like gift codes, which can be traded in for hero card backgrounds.
