Tin Man Games' The Warlock of Firetop Mountain reinvents the gamebook on iOS
Coming late 2016 or 2017
After a successful Kickstarter last fall, The Warlock of Firetop Mountain is expected to come to iOS this fall or early next year, following its release later this month.
Much like how Inkle evolved Steve Jackson's Sorcery, Tin Man Games is taking the classic Fighting Fantasy gamebook and reinventing it. The text and choices are still there, but they unfold through dioramic dungeons and board game pieces.
With each choice, the caves, dungeons, and other areas form around you, unfurling the map at the pace of your decisions. Encounters with orcs and other enemies is performed through simultaneous turn-based combat with miniature heroes and monsters.
You'll be able to discover 100 different heroes and monsters during your journey deep into the lair of infamous warlock Zagor.
The Warlock of Firetop Mountain will release on Steam on August 31st. The developer say they hope to bring the game to iOS by "the end of the year", but early 2017 is also a possibility.
