Nokia blows up, the iPhone is hacked to bits and Sony Ericsson gets (Cyber-)shot
It's the Pocket Picks round-up

It's not just been raining cats and dogs this summer – buckets of mobile news have also been falling out of the ether and our sister site, Pocket Picks, has been soaking up the lot.
Last week kicked off with a truism: If it has a screen and some buttons, then someone, somewhere will figure out how to make it play Doom. The iPhone helped solidify this notion early in the week, with rumours of an official version of the game coming to the device via evidence uncovered in a software hack.
Speaking of which, Apple's handset is going to need an axe-proof jacket before long, as this week it was hacked to pieces. First, Bladox managed a SIM hack, and then there was news of a Hong Kong-based company selling unlocked iPhones like hotcakes (or hot Chinese dumplings, even).
Elsewhere, there was more good news for those who resisted the temptation to adopt the Nokia N95 early, as rumours erupted regarding the new updated version possibly including a high-resolution VGA screen.
Sadly for Nokia, not all news from the Finnish camp was as positive this week as the company was forced to issue a gigantic (46 million!) recall for faulty batteries. Luckily for the mobile reliant Pocket Picks lot, theirs were not affected.
In other handset news, it came down to LG to really steal the headlines this week. First of all with the launch of the super-fast HSDPA 3G CU575 handset in the US, and the revelation that Orange will be carrying a pink version of the LG Shine in the UK.
Then came an announcement about a new line of entry-level, cost-effective (that's business speak for cheap as chips) 3G capable LG handsets, followed by yet another rumour about an upgraded, Prada-less version of the super-expensive-but-totally-worth-it KE850, the KU990. The rumour was later confirmed with some rather sleek looking photos betraying Vodafone as the carrier.
Sony Ericsson was also making waves with early week rumblings about new handsets arriving soon, as well as whispers regarding a direct competitor to the iPhone landing in November.
Right on cue, Sony Ericsson's new K770 Cyber-shot camera phone swooped down the following day. Shortly after, the manufacturer posted an exact description of what makes a Cyber-shot phone on its blog, just in case there was any confusion. Presumably the chaps at Phone Daily need no explanation as they were lucky enough to get a hands-on with the device later in the week.
Meanwhile, the mobile VoIP industry locomotive continued to steam ahead dependably, with IM+ being announced for Skype and Fring releasing a slew of updates to its service.
And lastly in entertainment, T-Mobile launched its 24/7 live football service while Bodytalk released the OhMiBod Boditalk Phone Vibrator (and, yes, that kind of vibrator).
And on that slightly sexy note it's time for another seven-day break from mobile news. Click 'Track It!' to make sure you catch next week's round-up.
